MALAYSIA TRULY ASIA
A couple of weeks back, I visited the most beautiful island in Malaysia. Even though I always wanted to visit Perhentian,Terengganu but it wasn't in my travel priority list. I totally regret that now.I can't compare Perhentian to any other island that I visited around Asia because it was extremely beautiful. The other reason would be, I'm Malaysian and I love my country.
It all started when my friends and I wanted to go for a ladies trip. So, I suggested diving as I always wanted to do it.
Let's start from Perhentian Kecil or Besar ? The common question I received. It's totally depends on you.Perhentian Kecil is cheaper and more quiet. If you want to party then I would suggest Perhentian Besar.Since,we can't party because we went there for diving so Perhentian Kecil was more ideal.

How to get to Perhentian ? We flew into Kota Bharu Airport and got picked up by a van.We reached Kuala Besut Jetty after an hour and took a 45 minute boat to Perhentian Kecil. We got an agent to arrange this for us as we took a diving package.
*PLEASE TAKE NOTE
There's boat every hour to Perhentian but only 3 available timing for return. Please look into that before booking your flight.
We stayed in a beach view quad room in
Shari-La Resort. The resort is just next to the jetty so you don't have to worry about dragging your bag on the sand ground.

Perhentian Kecil is really kecil (small) so there's only about 5-6 restaurants.I would say the food is extremely expensive. You will spend about RM30-RM50 a meal and that depends on the restaurant you choose.I think we tried all the restaurants there. My favorite was Ombak Resort Restaurant. It is very expensive but worth the money. If you want WiFi, you can got to Senja Restaurant.Even though the food is not so great but you could do it just for the WiFi.
You will rarely get signal on the island unless you are using Celcom. So, it will be a social media free holiday. If you addicted to social media, this place is not for you.You still can make calls depending on your luck.

On our first day, we were all tired but we wanted to start our diving classes immediately. We did about 2.5 hour theory then continued with our first shallow dive.We woke up about 7:00am every morning for the diving classes. We will do 2 dives everyday and finish it by 3:00 pm. No, it doesn't stop there. There's night theory classes too after dinner.
Our last day was free and easy.We decided to go to the Long Beach which is more beautiful than Perhentian Kecil.

*Walking from Perhentian Kecil to Long Beach is a 15 minutes steep walk or you can opt for the boat taxi.
There are some nice places to snorkel such as the shark point and turtle point.Don't miss it when you are there. We couldn't do it because of our long tiring day.Let me know how it was if you get to do it.
We realized diving is an expensive hobby after getting our license. You have to dive at least twice in a year to avoid paying and sitting for the boring refresher classes. If you plan to take up diving, make sure you know about all this.
